Battlefield: Bad Company - new download announced

Conquest Mode free to download from Thursday, Soul Calibur takes the chart top spot, new characters announced for latest Mortal Kombat title and Battlefield: Bad Company Conquest Mode screens

On August 7th, Battlefield: Bad Company players will get to tackle online play in a whole new way with Conquest mode that will be released as a free download for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Made famous by Battlefield 1942, Conquest mode pits players against each other in a fast paced battle to eliminate the opposing team's tickets. Players deplete their opponent's tickets by one point per kill and can cause their opponents tickets to spiral downwards by capturing control points. Four maps that are currently available for online play in Gold Rush mode will be available to conquer with Conquest mode.

Meanwhile it's all change in chartland as Ubisoft's uber-fighter that is Soul Calibur IV storms straight to the top of the charts. Wii Fit sits in second place with Mario Kart grabbing the bronze medal.

Across the pond in the US, veteran games company Midway has announced more new characters in its forthcoming crossover beat'em up, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe game. For the first time ever Scorpion, Sub-Zero and the Mortal Kombat warriors battle with Batman, Superman and other popular DC Universe Super Heroes. Choose your side and challenge your opponents with a new fighting system including Freefall Kombat and Klose Kombat along with dynamic multi-tiered environments. Plus, pick your favorite character from MK or DCU and pursue a fighting adventure in the new single player mode with an intertwined storyline and two unique perspectives. Four additional characters have been confirmed for the famous roster including The Joker, Kitana, Jax and Green Lantern.

Finally, following on from our lead story relating to the all new Conquest Mode for Battlefield: Bad Company - we have a selection of brand new screens for shooter fan to target in on. As far as we understand it, the download will be available from August 7th.
