New video-on-demand service launched for handheld, Sony denies PS3 price cut and Dynasty Warriors 6 PC screens
Now that the Premiership season has once again kicked off, PSP owners have the opportunity to re-live the football, not just talk about it. Football fans will be pleased to hear that the best of this season's Barclays Premier League will be available on Go!View, the video on-demand service for PSP.
Following the big kick off this weekend, owners will be able to transfer 45 minutes of extended highlights from Sky Sports matches to watch on the Sony handheld. Throughout the new season, Go!View customers will be able to watch a range of Barclays Premier League football from hundreds of Sky Sports games. Sky Sports will show 92 Live Barclays Premier League games this season and a further 242 'near live' matches. In addition, highlights from the season's best games will also be available ongoing from October for fans to transfer to their PSP so they can relive the highs and lows of the current campaign.
In order for PSP fans to watch the on-demand content a PC transfer is required, which is the only possible downside to a service such as this. Customers need to visit and subscribe to the Go!View website, download the required content and then physically transfer the files onto their PSP. Subscription Packs (of which the sport is one, alongside movies and TV dramas) start at 5(GBP) per month, with both Sony and Sky hoping that this new joint venture will bring a much needed content-rich video on demand service to the portable gaming market.
Staying with Sony, the firm has denied rumours that there will be any imminent price cut announced for the PS3. Speculation surrounded the possibility of a cost reduction - with an announcement rumoured to be happening at the forthcoming Leipzig Games Show. But Sony has been quick to squash the gossip. "It's not going to happen. If you're coming for that you'll be disappointed," Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman Nick Caplin told Reuters news agency.
Meanwhile, Japanese developer Koei has announced that the tactical action game Dynasty Warriors 6 is all set for an autumn release on the PS2 and PC. - and we have a brand new selection of screenshots in our gallery to show you.
