Guitar Hero: On Tour - (Nintendo DS)
Developer: Vicarious Visions
Format: Nintendo DS

Thrash your axe on the move!
Guitar Hero: On Tour continues to build on Activision's easy-to-play, yet difficult to master, addictive guitar-playing gameplay. The title now lets players take their rock and roll experience on the road wherever they go, thanks to this handy Nintendo DS conversion.
For the uninitiated, the idea is simple. Hammer away at multi-coloured buttons as they're displayed on screen, and strum in time as the notes descend to the bar at the bottom. Due to the different interface things have to be changed slightly for the DS version. Players use the Guitar Hero pick-stylus on the touch screen to strum their favourite tunes, while a small 4-button fret-like handheld grip plugs into your DS slot via a small strap - holding your hand in place while you play the game.
The control takes a little getting used to when compared to the larger console variants - but the important point is that it works - and after a short time practising, it works very well indeed.
Players can also join together to play co-op mode using a local wireless network, or battle each other in a Guitar Duel using new Battle Items unique to the DS version. For example, players must blow into the microphone to extinguish a pyrotechnics effects gone wrong, or use the touch screen to autograph a crazed fan's shirt in the middle of their set.
Featuring five unlockable new venues (with five new tracks to play each venue) the game lets players personalise their guitar exploits by choosing the colour of their axe of choice, selecting to play as one of six characters and outfitting their guitarist in numerous styles. Combined with the multiplayer options there's plenty here to keep the most demanding of guitar freaks happy.
A potentially tricky crossover has resulted in a finely tuned piece of axe-wielding Guitar Hero action. Strap on your fret and take a stroll with a song today!
